EUNIC Slovenia - the organiser of Europe as Guest of Honour at the Slovene Book Fair in 2019 - and Vodnikova domačija are organizing a joint program on 8 May at the occasion of the Day of Europe.

The directors of the foreign cultural institutes in Ljubljana draw attention to the diversity of European culture, the unifying power of literature and the importance of the free flow of intellectual values this year, by reading poems in their language.

Although the event can be organized only online, EUNIC Slovenia's message is also relevant this year: the treasures of classical and contemporary European literature are also available in Slovenian translations and could rightly be on the bookshelves and of course in the hearts of readers.

This year's action will include the Balassi Institute- which is the head of EUNIC Slovenia Cluster-, the British Council, the Goethe Institute, the French Institute, the Italian Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Spanish Embassy. Participants of the virtual event will be greeted by Zoran Stančič, Head of the European Commission's Representation in Ljubljana, with a Slovenian poem. The video will be available at the Vodnikova domačija’s Facebook page.
