kodaly32016, Bartók's year, has already passed, but also this year we will honour an extraordinary Hungarian composer – Zoltán Kodály, as we are commemorating the 135th anniversary of the composer's birth as well as the 50th anniversary of his death. On this occassion, the Balassi Institute will organise a number of events, many of which will be dedicated to the popularisation of his famous method, used in musical pedagogy – which is named after him and was acknowledged as part of the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the year 2016. We hope that the knowledge about this part of the Hungarian cultural treasury will contribute to the development of the Slovene musical education.

But it is not only through vocational programme that we will honour Kodály's memory – our monthly concerts and children's musical workshops will also contribute to the fulfillment of the goal, set by one of the most important Hungarian composers of the 20th century – let music be for everyone!
